Climate change adaptation in pavement design

چکیده
Abstract Since 2011, the change in climatic characteristics has emerged as one of three most common environmental risks today. Global warming forecasts warn that by 2100, our planet could warm an average 3.5 to 7.5 °C. In Europe, over last 140 years, annual air temperature risen about 1.5 Slovakia, it was increase 1.7 - 1.8 °C on average. The consequences these changes road construction are immediate and intense require adequate adaptation measures. Long-term measurements conditions Slovakia were basis for assessing daily temperatures individual seasons. With design pavements calculations pavement structure models, we have also tested materials especially asphalt mixtures. results used correct values input data, criteria, well measures reduce impact conditions. paper focuses characterization reflected constructions; provides some insights into solution partial problems field cement concrete pavement.

Adaptation to Climate Change
We investigate the effect of climate change on population growth in 18th and 19th century Iceland. We find that annual temperature changes help determine the population growth rate in preindustrial Iceland: a year 1◦C cooler than average drives down population growth rates by 0.57% in each of the next two years, for a total effect of 1.14%. We also find that 18th and 19th century Icelanders ada...
متن کاملFinancing climate change adaptation.
This paper examines the topic of financing adaptation in future climate change policies. A major question is whether adaptation in developing countries should be financed under the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), or whether funding should come from other sources. We present an overview of financial resources and propose the employment of a two-track approach...
متن کاملAdaptation and Climate Change
This paper deals with the often ignored issue of adaptation to human-induced climate change. Adaptation is not only inevitable but essential to fashioning the least-social-cost strategy to addressing climate change. The urgency for limiting climate change is inversely proportional to society's adaptability. Some limitation strategies are incompatible with adaptation goals (e.g., reducing CO2 ra...
متن کاملManaging Climate Change Refugia for Climate Adaptation
Refugia have long been studied from paleontological and biogeographical perspectives to understand how populations persisted during past periods of unfavorable climate. Recently, researchers have applied the idea to contemporary landscapes to identify climate change refugia, here defined as areas relatively buffered from contemporary climate change over time that enable persistence of valued ph...
